Public Forum: Posters Empowering Community

Public Forum: Thursday 18 May, 5.30pm – 7.30pm

Bradley Theatre, Level 3, Hawke Building, City West Campus, 55 North Terrace, University of South Australia

Allow yourself to be transported to a time before digital social media; a time when Co-Media and Community Arts Network produced posters as political and social tools during the 1970s–1990s.

Join the discussion along with leading authorities of those progressive times as we ask, ‘Did these posters reflect community social consciousness and/or inspire change and social action?’.

Artist/Researcher completing a PhD at the University of Adelaide Business School

Senior Lecturer in Gender, Work and Social Inquiry, University of Adelaide
PROF ANDREW HILL AM
Adelaide-born painter and printmaker and Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Art, Architecture and Design, University of South Australia
JOHN HOPKINSON
Involved from the early days in the Community Media Association, firstly as a participant in 1977, then as Director from 1979–1988
PETER DREW
Born in Adelaide, Peter holds a Masters Degree from the Glasgow School of Art. His artworks have been exhibited at the Art Gallery of South Australia and the National Gallery of Australia, though his most prominent work is installed on city streets

The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre gallery will be open before the forum starts, and until 8:30pm afterwards, so guests can peruse the exhibition.
